This January we saw the fashion world’s crème de la crème send their latest haute couture designs down the runway in Paris’ Spring 14 Couture Fashion week. Here are my top choices:
Karl Lagerfeld sent a pastel dream down the runway, his collection was a mix of delicate materials in a sport luxe cut.
Valentino’s Spring 14 Couture collection was full of earthy tones, with a wild animal/nature theme. The pieces featured beautifully crafted organza, intricate embroidery and long, kaftan-like silhouettes.
Donnatella Versace used fashion icon Grace Jones as her inspiration for her latest collection (note the Grace-esque hoods). The pieces also had a futuristic ‘warrior queen’ feel to them, with powerful silhouettes and structured waists.
As per usual Elie Saab’s collection was akin to walking through an ethereal garden. The embroidery was beautiful and his collection featured an entire kaleidoscope’s worth of colour.
This collection was my absolute favourite. Zuhair Murad never ceases to amaze me with his ability to create incredible pieces. He went for a gold theme this spring, with a lot of embellishment and tucked in waists. Look out for gold this coming spring, I have a feeling it’s going to be a big thing!
